Job Title : Registered Practical Nurse (RPN III)

Facility : Maluhia Hospital

Job Summary :

The RPN is responsible for the delivery of comprehensive resident care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Nursing activities are performed in accordance with established policies and procedures of Maluhia Hospital, the Code for Nurses, Standards of Nursing Care, and the Residents’ Bill of Rights.

Emphasis is placed on the unique role and function of the RPN III. The RPN is responsible for collecting data to direct the delivery of nursing services by subordinate staff. Specifically, the RPN oversees the assessment and evaluation of resident care problems and provides supervision, guidance, and assistance to subordinates as needed.

The RPN must be able to demonstrate and teach clinical skills to ensure acceptable levels of resident care. Additional responsibilities include directing and guiding resident teaching programs and coordinating the activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining high standards of professional nursing practice.

This position requires flexibility, as the RPN may be subject to rotation of shifts and programs to meet the goal of providing quality resident care.
