Job Summary

The Executive Director for Perioperative Business Operations reports to the Chief Perioperative Executive and is responsible for overseeing the business functions, supply chain, and scheduling operations for all perioperative services at the UMMC main campus and Jackson-area facilities. This leader works collaboratively as a strategic business partner with key members of organizational leadership to ensure efficient, high-quality operational performance across perioperative services.

Education & Experience

• Required : Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of operational leadership experience, including strategic staffing assessments, financial performance optimization, and vendor / contract negotiations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Previous experience in leading large scale surgical or other system level projects. Must have ability to organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple, complex projects simultaneously. Ability to understand and interpret financial reports and clinical data. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to exercise independent judgment, business acumen and leadership skills, strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, internal departments, and external agencies. Ability to manage contracts, draft business plans, proposals, RFPs and other correspondence, and make presentations to senior leaders. High proficiency in interpretation of financial reporting & highly skilled with financial reporting software systems, spreadsheets and graphics.

Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, frequent exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, bloodborne pathogens, fumes or airborne particulates, and / or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, constant working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal / clinical nature, constant work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crouching / stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional reaching, frequent sitting, occasional standing, occasional twisting, and constant walking.
