Raytheon has an opening for a Materials Planning Specialist. This position is responsible for overseeing, directing, and controlling work to and from the production floor in the way of work order management. The Production Control Analyst is the main communication conduit working between Operations Program Management, Manufacturing Engineering, & the Factory to meet production goals.
Raytheon Vision Systems (RVS) is a leading designer and manufacturer of focal plane arrays and flight-based camera systems supporting a myriad of defense, surveillance, space, and weather tracking applications. RVS is split into two manufacturing operations groups : (1) Focal Plane Operations & (2) Camera & Sensor Packaging. This role is nested within Camera & Sensor Packaging and reports directly to the Production Control Manager. Prospective hires will work on a team of 18 Production Control Analysts all of which sit in one of two administration areas at the local Goleta campus.
What You Will Do
- Drive material planning and execution by leveraging MRP to determine requirements, balancing inventory health with program schedules.
- Walk between multiple buildings on campus, averaging 3,0006,000 steps per day, in support of production and material movement activities. Ability to routinely bend, reach, and lift items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Manage build execution from kit to completion by driving warehouse material requests, releasing work orders, and tracking sub-assemblies and top-level assemblies through multiple production centers on the Goleta campus.
- Initiate and manage procurement activities through timely release of purchase requisitions, partnering closely with Supply Chain to ensure uninterrupted flow of critical materials.
- Assess raw material positions and prepare detailed analyses and reports to inform leadership and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) of manufacturing progress and risks.
- Perform ad-hoc analysis and generate reports in support of direct management requests and initiatives driven by site and corporate leadership.
- Follow up with the broader peer group to collect inputs, validate data, and drive execution against established metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) on behalf of the department.
- Lead special projects on behalf of the operations team at the direction of local site and corporate leadership. Examples include material coverage modeling, supporting MRP system upgrade implementations, benchmarking core processes, and rolling out best practices across the function. This work provides high visibility to senior operations leadership and requires adaptability to shifting business priorities.
- Maintain production accuracy by performing hardware cycle counts in lab environments, verifying availability of sub-assemblies at point of use (POU), and supporting line readiness. Set and adjust production priorities in collaboration with factory leadership, value stream leadership, and program management to ensure adherence to the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
- Facilitate on-time customer deliveries by coordinating end-of-month outbound shipments with Logistics, ensuring compliance with contractual and export requirements.
- The position is an onsite role in our Goleta, CA facility.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a Bachelor's or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and 3 years experience.Experience with MRP / ERP systems (special program access, Oracle, or equivalent), with the ability to analyze requirements, release purchase requisitions, and monitor material flow.Experience in production control, manufacturing, logistics, warehouse, packing / shipping, supply chain, material handling / management.Qualifications We Prefer
Experience with Microsoft Excel, including the use of formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools to support reporting and decision making.Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement initiatives, demonstrating the ability to identify inefficiencies, streamline processes, and influence adoption of best practices.Previous experience transforming complex information and data into clear, concise, and visually engaging slides.Experience creating or improving process documentation, workflows, or playbooks to support consistent execution and knowledge sharing.What We Offer
