A nonprofit organization in New York City is actively seeking a new Procurement Specialist to their team. In this role, the Procurement Specialist will be responsible for creating, tracking, and expediting orders for goods and services and purchasing the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
About the Opportunity :
- Start Date : ASAP
- Assignment Length : Ongoing
- Schedule : Monday to Friday
- Hours : 9am to 5pm (1-hour unpaid lunch)
- Setting : At least 2 days a week onsite (Monday & Wednesday are mandatory)
Responsibilities :
Work with Service Programming staff and management to identify vendors and contractors for goods and services to support the needs of serviceSolicit bid proposals from vendors and contractorsAnalyze price proposals and make purchasing recommendationsConfer with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery scheduleManage supplier's price, delivery and quality performance and escalate when appropriateIdentify and execute cost savings initiatives that support the department's overall savings goal, delivers improved quality, cost, service, and innovationVerify the accuracy of purchase requisitions, clarifying unclear items and assuring that the correct client is indicated on each orderExpedite orders to ensure that goods arrive on time, and in the event of problems, traces shipments, and follows up on undelivered goodsPrepare purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning departmentProvide documentation on purchases to assist staff with internal and external reporting requirementsAssist with on-going staff training by providing guidance in creating purchase requisitions, approving requisitions, and receiving delivered goods in the purchasing system.Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective actionPerform other duties as assignedQualifications :
5+ years of relevant work experienceIntermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointStrong customer service orientationGreat interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skills (written and verbal)Strong attention to detailHighly organizedDesired Skills :
