What You Will Do
The primary responsibility of the Protein Plant Operator is to assure product quality while operating RO, evaporator, and RO water polisher units in production and CIP.
Job Responsibilities
- Operate evaporator, permeate and polishing RO systems, including production, CIP, and related equipment
- Maintain accurate and complete paperwork
- Follow Good Manufacturing Procedures; understand sanitation in relation to CIP, COP, and cleanup
- Maintain and monitor all QC and production programs per Hilmar Cheese & Ingredients standards
- Complete and respond to all in-process testing
- Communicate and work effectively with team members to help achieve department goals
- Relieve operators for breaks and lunch periods when needed
- Perform master sanitation program duties as assigned
- Participate in department activities such as GMP audits, safety audits, accident investigations, and follow-up on outstanding work orders
- Promote and follow Company Hygiene Zoning Program
- All other duties as assigned by the Production Supervisor
- Engage in training and development activities and participate in on-the-job training
- Help coach and train teammates and participate in buddy training
- Prioritize food safety and sanitation; communicate any food safety issues and participate in root cause analysis and improvement activities when required
- Maintain a safety-first approach at all times and report safety issues or opportunities
