Responsibilities
GVI Inc. is seeking a Technical Writer to develop, manage, and produce technical documentation in support of Navy Combat Weapon Systems and related training materials. Responsibilities include coordinating with design, development, and production teams, and ensuring documentation aligns with applicable policies and standards.

Requirements
Clearance : Secret
Education : Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in applicable disciplines such as Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Multimedia Design / Development, Information Technology Systems, Illustrating Aerospace Engineering, Business Management, Business Administration, or six (6) years of technical writing experience.
Experience
- Five (5) years of experience directly related to developing and producing interactive / online technical documentation.
- At least (1) year of experience directly related to the management and coordination of personnel and activities in the support of the design, development, and production of training courses and course materials utilizing and in compliance with USN policies, procedures, and standards for Navy Combat Weapon Systems (such as NAVEDTRA 130 series standards). This experience may run concurrently with the five (5) years of experience developing and producing interactive / online technical documentation.
- Two (2) years of experience with Content Management Systems, Learning Management Systems, and / or Sharable Content Object Reference Model.
Desired Qualifications
Demonstrated experience supervising content development and in Validation / Verification Events, PUBSATS onboard ships or labs, schedules.Demonstrated experience in the technical documentation life cycle development, distribution and disposal.Demonstrated experience using browser-based languages including XML, HTML, JavaScript and CSS.Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access) and Adobe tools (Acrobat Pro, FrameMaker, Photoshop, Illustrator, RoboHelp).Demonstrated experience using HP-UX file system and commands.Demonstrated experience developing, maintaining, and producing technical documentation in S1000 international specification for the procurement and production of technical publication.Demonstrated experience using Integrated Development Environments (IDE) to develop or maintain logistic products, and the ability to interpret specifications and technical documentation to write manuals, operating and maintenance instructions.Demonstrated experience with the development and maintenance of logistic program management plans or presentations (e.g., ILSP, LCS Plans, DMSMS, Supply Management, Technical Bulletins, User Logistics Support Summaries).Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD to prepare 2D / 3D drawings and SolidWorks.Demonstrated experience gathering and analyzing source material to develop curricula and provide operator and maintenance training for Navy Combat Weapon Systems.Experience in maintenance planning, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analyses, and related PMS documentation (MIPs, MRCs). RCM Level I and II certification preferred. Knowledge of PMSMIS and NAVLOGTD.Experience with Navy Databases such as CDMD-OA, NDE, PMSMIS, ATIS, TDMIS, SMART-T, NSDER, ICAPS, AIM, etc.Compensation
