Addison Smith Mechanical Contractors is seeking an experienced Controls Systems Technician III to join our Controls & Building Automation Division. This senior-level role is responsible for installing, programming, integrating, and troubleshooting commercial and industrial building automation systems. The ideal candidate is a skilled technician who thrives in a field-based environment, demonstrates leadership, and ensures systems operate safely, efficiently, and to design intent.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, program, and commission control systems including DDC controllers, sensors, actuators, and networks.
- Diagnose and repair complex system issues involving controls hardware, software, and integration.
- Lead and mentor Controls Tech I and II team members to ensure quality and safety standards.
- Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
- Configure and troubleshoot communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, TCP / IP).
- Perform point-to-point testing, functional verification, and system commissioning.
- Generate reports, as-built drawings, and documentation for completed systems.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and customers to ensure project success.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Expert understanding of building automation and HVAC control systems.Proficient in software platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Siemens, Honeywell, or Johnson Controls.Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with complex electrical and mechanical systems.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams.Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required.Associate degree or technical certification in HVAC Controls, Electrical Technology, or Building Automation preferred.Minimum of 5 years' experience with control systems installation, programming, and commissioning.Certifications & Licenses
OSHA 30-Hour Certification required.BAS manufacturer certifications (Tridium, Siemens, Honeywell, etc.) preferred.EPA Universal Certification preferred.Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.Job Type : Full-time
