Healthcare Privacy Attorney
Associate Attorney - Health Care and General Privacy Counseling
Our client, a top Am Law 100 firm, is seeking an Associate with two (2) to four (4) years of experience in health care privacy and other areas of privacy law.
This position can be based in the firm’s Silicon Valley, Santa Monica, and Washington D.C. offices.
The salary range for this position is between $235,000 - $310,000 (annually) and may vary depending on experience and other factors.
A discretionary bonus for eligible employees may also be available based on performance.
Overview :
The firm is looking to expand its Chambers-ranked Privacy & Cybersecurity practice. They’re looking for a privacy associate who can assist in advising clients as they develop products and services;
draft and update privacy policies, procedures, training, notifications, forms of consent, and related documents; and provide other general privacy counseling.
Ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of :
- Health information privacy (including human subjects research); Federal (HIPAA) and state (CMIA, Washington My Health My Data Act, Nevada SB 370) health care privacy laws
- Consumer privacy
- Other federal privacy laws, such as GLBA, FCRA, COPPA, and the FTC Act
- Comprehensive state privacy laws, such as the CCPA
- International privacy laws and regimes, such as the EU’s GDPR
- General technology and data flows
Qualifications :
- Experience drafting privacy policies, negotiating privacy-related contracts and data processing agreements (BAAs, DPAs, DUAs), providing product counseling, and conducting privacy compliance assessments
- Experience responding to and drafting notifications for privacy and data security incidents
- Experience with AdTech (desirable but not essential)
- Superior academic credentials
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills
- Strong professional references
- California or District of Colombia bar membership (as appropriate) or eligibility to take the next available exam is required
