Liberty Resources is currently seeking a Per Diem Youth Specialist for Oswego County.

Position Summary :

The Youth Specialist supports children / youth with the development and utilization of skills needed to restore and support their achievement of developmentally appropriate functioning. This role helps youth increase independence, daily living skills, and successful community integration as part of a comprehensive service plan. As a Youth Specialist, you will work with youth ages 0-21 in their home or in the community who face emotional or behavioral challenges.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Implement skill-building services focused on daily living, socialization, community participation, and health management.
  • Coach youth in natural settings such as the home or community to generalize coping strategies and functional behaviors.
  • Support youth in developing healthy routines, interpersonal skills, and personal autonomy.
  • Document all service contacts, progress toward goals, and incidents in accordance with Medicaid billing standards.
  • Engage families and caregivers to support practice of new skills outside of sessions.
  • Follow the individualized treatment plan, ensuring that activities are appropriate to the youth's developmental level and needs.
  • Qualifications :

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent, and 2 years of experience in children's mental health, addiction, foster care, or related field is required (Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or related human services field, or a Master's degree in a related field is preferred but not required)
  • As part of hiring, must be cleared by the State Child Abuse Registry and must complete fingerprinting clearance
  • Have a valid driver's license
  • Required Skills and Abilities :

    Is sensitive to cultural differences and able to incorporate that understanding into service provision. Individual must possess strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrate an ability to remain non-reactive in response to conflict and an ability to provide coaching and supportive guidance. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrate creative problem solving and planning skills, and the ability to follow goal plans. Demonstrate sound judgment, and the ability to work with youth and their families. Must be able to work independently and with collateral providers.

    Starting Pay : $31.13 per hour
