Atlanta Gear Works is a fast-growing, family run, highly respected leader in custom gear manufacturing and gearbox repair for industrial customers across North America.

We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in gear design and gearbox repair, looking to grow with a company that values quality, precision, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Design, reverse engineer, and troubleshoot custom gearing and industrial gearboxes.

Apply knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as helical / spur gearing, gearbox assemblies and other mechanical assemblies.

  • Analyze customer requests for quotes (RFQs) for manufacturing jobs.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications.  Complete work according to standard of engineering principles and practices.
  • Provide technical support during all stages to ensure alignment between customer requirements and production capabilities.
  • Work closely with sales, and service teams, machinists, assemblers, and vendors to ensure project success.
  • Support Quality Control and Manufacturing personnel to ensure geared products are manufactured and inspected according to both company and industrial standards.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers to provide technical support, project updates, and solutions.
  • Manage projects from quoting through completion, meeting customer timelines and quality standards.
  • Create and review engineering drawings, models using Solid Works.
  • Develop technical documentation for repairs and gearing.
  • Provide input on process improvements.  Utilize ERP systems  to manage work orders and track project progress.

    • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in gear and shaft manufacturing technology.  Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field. 3+ years of experience in gear manufacturing, gear design or related engineering roles.

    • Strong knowledge of gear and shaft types (spur, helical, bevel, etc.) and gear production methods (cutting, grinding, heat treatment, etc.).  Strong understanding of AGMA standards, how to apply them and appropriate uses of them.  Strong project management skills and attention to detail Proficiency with SolidWorks, gear analysis tools, and JobBOSS ERP system.
