American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Telemetry night shift position requiring an active AZ or compact RN license and strong telemetry skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a hospital's Med / Surg Telemetry unit with a 48-bed capacity on the 4th floorPatient population includes COVID, respiratory, gastrointestinal, diabetic, telemetry, TIA, CVA, and general, orthopedic, and spinal surgical casesNurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 5Utilizes Cerner EMR, prior experience recommendedUses BiPAP, CPAP, high flow, and basic telemetry monitors; telemetry is monitored remotely but RNs must interpret and sign strips once per shiftDiltiazem drips at set rate may be used; RNs are not required to titrate drips12-hour night shifts (7 : 00 PM–7 : 30 AM) with every other weekend requiredSelf-scheduling system is used, finalized by manager reviewFloating may be required to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualifiedNo call or standby requiredResponsibilities include providing nursing care for a complex mix of medical, surgical, and telemetry patients and reading / interpreting telemetry stripsSupport staff includes nurse aides with ratios approximately 1 : 10-15 and both charge nurse and house supervisor available; charge nurse does not take patient assignmentOrientation consists of one 12-hour unit shiftNavy blue scrubs requiredMust work 2 weekends per 4 weeks and provide coverage for major holidays as assigned (Christmas, New Year's, Thanksgiving)Travelers may be first to float based on unit needsA minimum permanent residence distance of 50 miles from the facility is required to qualify for travel positions in Arizona\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications requiredMinimum 2 years of recent RN experience in Med / Surg or Telemetry settingsMust be able to interpret basic telemetry stripsExperience with general and orthopedic surgical, TIA, and CVA patients requiredCerner EMR experience highly recommended due to limited orientationMust provide copy of driver’s license for considerationTwo professional references required : one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from past 3 years including employment dates and rehire eligibilityMust pass basic or advanced Relias Dysrhythmia exam and sterile technique test during orientationCannot have been employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by CommonSpirit facilities in the past year\n Benefits\n
