CardWorks, Inc. is a diversified consumer finance service provider and parent company of CardWorks Servicing, LLC, Merrick Bank, and Carson Smithfield, LLC. CardWorks Servicing, LLC provides end-to-end operational servicing functions for credit cards, secured cards, and installment loans. We service consumer and small business loans across the credit spectrum and offer backup servicing and due diligence services to capital providers and trustees. Merrick Bank is an FDIC-insured Utah Industrial Loan Bank. Merrick operates three main business lines : credit cards, recreational lending, and merchant services. Carson Smithfield, LLC provides a variety of post-charge-off debt recovery services, including digital self-service, IVR, live agent, and external agency management.

Position Summary

The Director of Collections is a key leadership role within the CardWorks Operations organization, responsible for the strategic direction and day-to-day execution of consumer collections for our Recreational Loan portfolios (including RVs, boats, utility trailers, and off-road vehicles). This role ensures the collection staff adheres to Lending collection policies, adherence to internal policies, and compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading high-volume collections teams, driving process improvements, and fostering a customer-focused, compliant collections environment. The Director will oversee a team of collection specialistsincluding team leaders, support staff, and collectorsand will develop strategies to minimize portfolio losses.

Essential Functions

• Leads and manages collection efforts across all delinquency stages, including repossession.
• Develops and implements strategies to optimize collection effectiveness while ensuring compliance with regulations (FDCPA, UDAAP, CFPB, etc.).
• Monitors and manages operational KPIs to ensure alignment with SLAs and internal benchmarks.
• Collaborates cross-functionally with other Rec Lending departments, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Client Services, Rec Lending and Technology to ensure alignment of controls, procedures, and systems with business needs.
• Remains current in industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to maintain a best-in-class collections operation.
• Represents the department in client and partner meetings, including preparation of operational updates and performance reviews.
• Identifies and implements automation and process improvement opportunities in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
• Ensures appropriate staffing, resource planning, and business continuity processes are in place to meet operational demands.
• Trains and develops staff at all levels.
• Participates in the hiring process, including interviewing candidates.
• Conducts performance evaluations and administers corrective actions as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
