Corrections Officer
The City of Henderson Police Department announces the opening of applications for the position of Corrections Officer. Processing and testing of applicants will occur throughout the year on an ongoing basis.
The department is seeking dedicated people of character, courage, conscience, and compassion who are interested in a challenging and rewarding career of service to the citizens and community of Henderson. The pool of candidates from this recruitment may be used to fill vacancies for the classification of Corrections Officer for up to one year.
Under general supervision, performs security work overseeing and directing the activities of inmates within the Detention Center and during transport to other facilities, and performs related duties as required.

ASSESSMENT INFORMATION :
Step 1 : Submit Your Application Apply by December 31, 2025, to join us for the May 2026 academy!
Step 2 : Written Exam : Must be completed within 10 calendar days of receiving invitation to test.
Step 3 : Physical Fitness Test : Candidates invited to the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) will receive an email notice when it is their time to schedule. PFT dates open two weeks in advance, and scheduling links are sent out to candidates who have passed the written exam.

PLEASE NOTE : Candidates will need to meet the standards shown in the video in accordance with Nevada POST requirements during the academy, the hiring process is based on the requirements listed above.
Step 4 : Preliminary Oral Board Interview : Conducted via Microsoft Teams after successful completion of Physical Fitness Test
Step 5 : Background Investigation : Includes Personal History Questionnaire / Polygraph Examination / Fingerprinting
Step 6 : Command Staff Interview : Candidates who successfully complete backgrounds will be invited for a final interview with HPD Command Staff
Step 7 : Conditional Offer : Drug Screening / Psychological Examination / Medical & Physical Screening
Step 8 : Employment Offer & Academy : Henderson Police Academy hours are 6am-4pm, Monday Thursday for approximately 24 weeks.

The selection process will begin with an employment application package screening, with the best qualified candidates being invited to participate further in the assessment process. This process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. The City will provide reasonable accommodation to qualified individuals with disabilities. IMPORTANT : Appointment is subject to the successful completion of a pre-employment background investigation, polygraph examination, medical / physical examination, Psychological examination, drug and alcohol test.

NOTE : The City reserves the right to modify selection devices and test instruments in accordance with accepted legal, ethical, and professional standards. Some candidates may be disqualified indefinitely due to the results of their background investigation.
