City Laborer
Under the supervision of an Elevator Mechanic, the candidate will assist an Elevator Mechanic who is inspecting, maintaining, adjusting, and repairing passenger and freight elevator systems; assist in maintaining adequate elevator service to developments; assist in providing safe elevator service to NYCHA residents. Duties shall include, but not be limited to the following :
- Assist in lubricating and cleaning all components of hydraulic and electric elevator systems.
- Assist an Elevator Mechanic who makes adjustments as required to contactors and controllers in the electrical and hydraulic elements of elevator systems.
- Assist an Elevator Mechanic who inspects and checks doors, cable rails, bumpers, safeties, overloads, relays, sheaves, and governors to assure continued safe operations.
- Assist an Elevator Mechanic who re-ropes and re-wires elevator systems as required.
- Assist an Elevator Mechanic who checks and troubleshoots all types of elevator and escalator systems.
- Assist an Elevator Mechanic who performs necessary adjustments and / or repairs to all elevator mechanical and electrical components and their control systems.
- Assist an Elevator Mechanic who inspects, maintains, adjusts, and repairs escalators, platform lifts, conveyors, and dumbwaiters.
- Operate a motor vehicle in the performance of assigned duties.
