Job Description:
Position Overview: As a Residential Counselor at HIZwill Agency DDA, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving their goals, enhancing their quality of life, and promoting their independence. You will work in a residential setting, providing personalized care, guidance, and emotional support to residents in a compassionate and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Care and Support:
Provide direct care and support to residents in accordance with their Individualized Service Plans (ISP).
Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management, and transportation.
Foster a safe and supportive living environment that promotes independence and personal growth.
Offer emotional support and actively listen to residents' concerns and needs.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client progress, incidents, and observations.
Prepare and submit reports as required by agency policies and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the coordination of care and adherence to client-specific plans.
Behavioral Support:
Implement behavior support plans and strategies to address challenging behaviors.
Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary, following agency protocols.
Collaborate with Behavior Analysts and other professionals to develop and modify behavior support plans.
Community Integration:
Facilitate community outings and activities to promote socialization and inclusion.
Encourage residents' participation in community events, educational programs, and recreational opportunities.
Advocacy and Education:
Advocate for the rights and preferences of residents, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
Educate residents on personal safety, self-advocacy, and life skills to enhance their independence.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred).
Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or a similar population is highly desirable.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Empathy, patience, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards (DDA regulations, HIPAA, etc.).
