Description :

RN position in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

The facility includes licensed beds and has a trauma designation.

It is a teaching hospital with certifications for chest pain and stroke care.

The unit has an average daily census of 15 to 18 patients.

Patient ratios are 2 RNs to 1 patient.

Common patient types include those with respiratory issues, congenital heart disease, hematology / oncology, post-operative care, and trauma.

Support within the department includes availability of CNAs, receptionists, charge nurses, phlebotomy, and a resource nurse based on staffing needs.

The hospital has 24 / 7 availability of respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists.

Technology used includes EMR, IV pumps, and medication dispensing systems.

Float opportunities may include NICU and general pediatrics.

Scheduling includes an every other weekend rotation, with holiday expectations set at 75% of holidays.

Scrub color is navy.

The unit culture emphasizes teamwork and friendliness.
