Chief Estimator

At HB Construction we actively hire and develop people who share our passion for Better Partnerships Better Projects and Better Communities. We are currently seeking a Chief Estimator to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the development of detailed cost estimates to support project success and profitability.

Oversee and facilitate scope of work analysis material procurement and bid evaluations.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors across the region.

Define and communicate scopes of work to subcontractors to ensure accurate and complete bid coverage.

Attend pre-bid meetings to assess project scope required resources competition and client expectations.

Review and support the preparation of bid / proposal documents including schedules and subcontractor solicitations.

Coordinate preconstruction estimating and manage production of bid packages.

Ensure compliance with local state and federal procurement codes and regulations.

Maintain and continuously improve internal bid processes and coordination.

Lead project buy-out as needed collaborating with project managers to ensure smooth handoffs.

Develop proposal and project execution strategies that set up operations teams for success.

Maintain and update historical cost data for future benchmarking and reference.

Conduct site visits to validate preconstruction assumptions and compare estimates to real-world conditions.

Qualifications

Extensive experience in construction estimating preferably in commercial or large-scale projects.

Strong knowledge of construction materials methods and industry standards.

Proficiency with construction estimating software and digital tools.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Proven leadership and team management experience.

Strong analytical problem-solving and organizational abilities.

Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to construction bidding.
