Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg, Tele, and PCU Float Pool position requiring night shift flexibility and strong titratable drip skills.
Responsibilities
Work in the Float Pool covering Med / Surg, Telemetry, and Progressive Care Units (PCU) across multiple hospital campusesPatient population includes geriatric, orthopedic, post-cardiac cath, post-MI, and post-op CABG patientsUnits covered may include inpatient ED holding, stepdown (PCU), and Med / Tele with nurse : patient ratios of 1 : 4 (PCU) and 1 : 5-6 (MedSurg / Tele)Role involves titrating common drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and InsulinUse of Cerner EMR requiredNight shifts with 12-hour length; every other weekend required; first to float across unitsRNs notified of daily unit assignment two hours before shift; campuses are 20-25 minutes apartMonitor techs support cardiac monitoring, but RNs must interpret stripsCPAP, BiPAP, and heated high flow equipment used on relevant unitsSolid color scrubs required, transitioning to navy in OctoberPrimary responsibilities include delivering direct patient care across MedSurg, Tele, and PCU as assignedTravelers may be assigned to inpatients holding in the ED as well as to both campus locationsCharge nurses available for each shift and do not take direct patient assignmentsNurse aides are utilized in all care settingsHoliday coverage will be included as part of the regular staff rotationOrientation comprises a total of 8 hours of facility orientation and two 12-hour unit shadow shiftsCandidates failing the required dysrhythmia or sterile technique tests will be ineligible for rehire in the region for 6 monthsNo on-call or standby requirements for this assignmentRequirements
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of applicationBLS and ACLS certifications required and must be currentMinimum of 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in a PCU settingExperience with titratable drips as listed and comfortable managing complex cardiac patientsMust pass a dysrhythmia exam (Relias) with a minimum score of 80% within two attempts prior to contract signingRNs must interpret their own cardiac stripsMust live at least 50 miles from the hospital facilityCannot have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past yearTwo references required : one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 years including employment dates and eligibility for rehireCopy of driver’s license required for considerationBenefits
