Risk Management, Privacy & Compliance Coordinator

We are seeking a Risk Management and Patient Relations Specialist to collaborate with clinical leadership and provide support in managing incidents, patient grievances, and overall patient relations. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and mitigating risks, supporting the investigation of incidents, facilitating training on risk management protocols, and ensuring compliance with hospital grievance policies. You will also assist with patient assistance programs and ensure the smooth communication and follow-up with patients and families following adverse events.

As the Risk Management and Patient Relations Specialist, you will play a critical role in reducing risk and promoting safety throughout the organization. You will handle a range of activities, from incident management and claims support to patient grievance processing and communication. Your work will ensure that risk-related issues are identified and addressed promptly, while also ensuring that patient complaints and grievances are resolved according to regulations and best practices.

What You Will Do

  • Incident Management : Work with clinical leadership to implement risk reduction strategies and ensure follow-up after adverse events. Document incidents in the Incident Reporting System and support the investigation of potentially compensable events (PCEs).
  • Training and Education : Facilitate training for staff on risk management protocols and promote a culture of safety and compliance within the organization.
  • Collaboration and Communication : Collaborate across departments to identify emerging risks and trends, escalate significant matters, and provide communication support during adverse events.
  • Claims & Litigation Management : Report PCEs and provide necessary information for discovery requests related to claims and litigation.
  • Grievance and Complaint Management : Ensure compliance with CMS grievance policies, document patient complaints, and manage follow-up within the required timeframes.
  • Account Holds & Patient Assistance : Manage the Patient Relations hold list, participate in grievance processes, and provide patient assistance, including work orders and special needs facilitation.

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Risk Management, or related field Required
  • 3+ years of experience in risk management, patient relations, or a related healthcare role Required
  • Strong understanding of CMS grievance regulations and risk management protocols Required
  • Experience with claims management and incident reporting systems Required
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clinical teams, patients, and leadership Required
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information with discretion Required
