Job Description

Under general direction, the R&D Controls Engineer will collaborate with Engineers to evaluate and design advanced technology products. The role involves designing various electrical harnesses and control systems, calibrations, and algorithms needed for electrification efforts of business units' products.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team members to enhance skills and knowledge, applying them to projects that produce results greater than individual efforts.
• Design and develop all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery with a team.
• Integrate various hybrid electric systems into truck chassis and other business unit products.
• Partner with multiple business units to understand products and collaborate on solutions.
• Design, implement, and tune control loops using PID, discrete time operations, ladder logic, scripting, and structured programming language.
• Design and implement Human Machine Interfaces (HMI).
• Create harness designs including high voltage harnesses and connectors.
• Integrate generators and motors into vehicle systems.
• Configure inverters and drives for electric drivetrains.
• Drive design choices to maximize safety and value to the company.
• Troubleshoot issues with hardware and processes.
• Research and continuously learn new technologies for incorporation into current and new product designs.
• Teach or instruct others to maintain systems produced.

Work Environment

The position requires working in a dynamic and collaborative environment, utilizing advanced technologies and equipment. The work may involve irregular hours, including weekends and holidays, and occasional international travel. Dress code is business casual.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80,000.00 - $113,000.00 / yr.
