Position Summary Description
Performs operating duties, rounds, and checks of assigned auxiliary equipment in the Power Block or FGD and EPF plant site area systems. Makes the necessary equipment adjustments within his / her control, performs other related work, and assists employees as needed. Performs work requiring high degree of skill in the operational duties of material handling equipment, including the unloading, and fueling of coal to the coal fired generating station and other material handling responsibilities. Ensure the safe, efficient operation, while monitoring of all relevant rail, material handling equipment, operating systems, instruments, and controls. Maintain accurate records and logs. Performs other related work, as directed. Continue to the next level of operator training. Helps train employees in their job requirements and duties.
Essential Functions
Qualifications and Education Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Additional formal education in math and science preferred. Two (2) years of prior experience in coal fire power plant operations preferred. Three (3) years’ experience in operating material handling equipment preferred. Must complete Heavy Equipment and Equipment Operator training. Must complete all Plant Operator 1 training for Power Block or FGD and EPF plant site area systems. Must be able to understand and interpret manuals associated with the operation and maintenance of equipment. Must gain knowledge of procedures, regulations, and operations related to all areas of a modern large coal power plant. Ability to perform all duties with minimal supervision. Must be thoroughly competent with the Plant LOTO Procedure. Basic knowledge to survey and gather elevations. Understands the Landfill and Coal yard Operation Plan and Comprehensive Coal Combustion Residuals Management Plan as required by the EPA. Ability to drive vehicles and mobile equipment.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to follow established protective measures including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report. Must be able to ascend and descend stationary and portable ladders. Must be able to lift materials up to sixty (60) pounds. Required to perform job tasks while wearing protective clothing, air purified respirators, and self-contained breathing apparatus. Manual labor is required. Work at heights over 250 feet and in confined areas.
Working Conditions
While working in certain areas of the plant there is the potential for exposure to hazards typical of an industrial working environment. Required to work overtime hours upon request. Required to work various schedules including a rotating shift schedule and weekends. Required to work in areas of high noise, dusty conditions, and extreme temperatures. Required to perform outside duties under adverse weather conditions. Required to work rotating 12-hour shifts and must be able to work extended hours and be available for call out duties as required. Expected to remain on duty until properly relieved. Required to use emergency response equipment in emergencies and for training. Required to work with and around chemicals. Expected to participate in plant training, as required.
