POSITION SUMMARY :
The role of the Service Manager is scheduling and organizing the day-to-day workload for all shop & field technicians. Their responsibilities are to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the service shop and field technicians. The Service Manager will work closely with support staff and the Parts Department to schedule timely repairs for our customers’ machines. The Service Manager will also coordinate with the Machine Department for shipping and receiving equipment for stock, rentals, demos and machine sales. The Service Manager has ultimate responsibility for department safety, revenues, profitability, staffing and asset protection.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, training and developing employees.
- Accomplish department results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
- Maintains quality by developing, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
- Maintains good relations with our new and repeat customers.
- Maintains safety by developing, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
- Processes service orders, which require verbal / written customer interface during quoting and invoicing process.
- Assist in procuring documentation, parts, and service literature to support service department needs.
- Manage purchase orders, vendor accounts and expense sheets / submissions.
- Responds professionally in stressful situations.
- Responsible for financial performance of the department.
- Thorough knowledge of equipment’s various systems. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues and make repairs in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read computer displays, PDF files, electronic and hydraulic schematics or catalogs in order to determine replacement parts.
- Ability to travel out of town and stay overnight when required.
- Reliability in attendance, punctuality, meeting deadlines and accepting accountability for their results; self-motivated.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diplomaMinimum five years’ prior supervisory experience managing a service department required.Ability to work directly with the public with a high level of customer service.Ability to communicate effectively by telephone, in written / e-mail form, and verbally.Handling complaints and resolving customer grievances.Ability to work well in a team environment by developing constructive and cooperative relationships.Ability to read and write English and use advanced math.Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining files and processing paperwork.Using computer systems to obtain, enter, and process data, including scanning / attaching documents.Proficiency in the use of MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) and NetSuite or comparable ERP.Developing specific plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work in a timely fashion.Keeping up to date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.Ability to work Monday to Friday from 7 : 00AM to 5 : 00PM and overtime as needed.After regular business hours by phone is required.Background and driving record check required.Ability to perform special projects as needed by the company.PHYSICAL AND WORKSITE ENVIRONMENT :
