Job Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures; handles

and administers radiopharmaceuticals ; maintains radiation safety. Prepares examinations for interpretation; and assists with maintaining supplies.

Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance to the established FMC policies, procedures and guidelines.

Job Qualifications

Education : Associate or Bachelor degree in allied health / Nuclear medicine Technology from an AMA approved school, or program that otherwise meets the requirements to be registry-eligible.

Licensure / Certification : Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Maintains licensure requirements with the state of Ohio.

Maintains annual CPR certification / When Seconds Count certification.

Experience : Two years minimum experience in a diagnostic imaging setting preferred.

Job-related Skills : Working knowledge of computer programs. Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish working relationships with internal and external customers. Strong organization skills. Critical thinking skills and the ability to make independent decisions.

Organizational Expectations and Responsibilities :

Performs and documents nuclear medicine examinations upon the order of an approved healthcare provider.

Performs appropriate handoff and continuity of care communication to the next caregiver.

Analyzes nuclear medicine examinations for quality control purposes.

Prepares completed examinations for interpretation by the radiologist.

Operates nuclear medicine cameras and all related equipment.

Operates all facility-based computer systems.

Administers radiopharmaceuticals under the direction of physician / per protocol.

Transports, moves and positions patients in a safe and appropriate fashion.

Participates in quality assurance / quality control activities as related to nuclear medicine.
