Transform Lives and Empower Connections in Enchanting Virginia - Become Our Next Speech Language Pathologist

Overview

Have you ever considered a career path that resonates with purpose - in every conversation and interaction? As a Speech Language Pathologist in the vibrant setting of Norfolk, Virginia, you will not only address communication and swallowing disorders but also unlock the latent potential in individuals of all ages, restoring confidence and fostering human connection. From little ones discovering their first words to older adults reclaiming their voices, your contributions will leave an indelible mark.

This position offers a remarkable chance to engage with a diverse range of clients, providing services that span across outpatient therapy with occasional inpatient support. Whether your passion lies in pediatric speech development, adult neurogenic communication challenges, or geriatric cognitive rehabilitation, this role promises professional satisfaction and the flexibility to tailor your focus.

Description
  • Conduct evaluations for patients spanning pediatric, adult, and geriatric demographics utilizing standardized assessments and observational methodologies.
  • Craft individualized treatment plans that meet both immediate goals and long-term communication, cognitive, and swallowing needs.
  • Deliver personalized speech therapy interventions that emphasize language, communication, fluency, voice, and swallowing capabilities.
  • Collaborate with a team of physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and families to formulate integrated care strategies.
  • Provide education to patients and families to facilitate progress beyond the therapy sessions.
  • Assist in performing occasional inpatient speech therapy assessments and interventions, ensuring a seamless continuum of care throughout the patient's journey.
  • Maintain precise documentation practices in accordance with state, federal, and organizational standards.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development by staying abreast of the latest advancements in the field through continuing education and peer collaboration.
Education
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution.
  • Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not currently ASHA-certified.
Certifications
  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Preferred Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be acquired within 30 days of employment.
Skills
  • Expertise in evidence-based treatment methodologies that cater to all age groups, underpinned by a robust comprehension of developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing conditions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to adjust therapeutic techniques in alignment with diverse cultural and linguistic needs.
  • Robust clinical judgment and adept problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records systems and documentation protocols.
Benefits
  • Attractive compensation based on experience.
  • Flexible work scheduling to promote a healthy work-life balance.
  • Specialization opportunities in areas including pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatrics.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and life insurance options.
  • Continuing education subsidies and support for professional development.
  • A collaborative environment centered on high-quality care and lifelong learning.

A Career of Meaningful Impact and Growth

In this role, your reach will extend beyond basic speech therapy tasks; you will embrace a mission-driven approach focused on restoring voices, enhancing communication, and creating joyous moments through the power of understanding and connection.

In a work culture that prioritizes teamwork over competition, you will find camaraderie among clinicians who regard each other as family. Every patient carries a unique story, and you will play a pivotal role in how that narrative unfolds.

Why You'll Adore Calling Norfolk Home

The charm of Norfolk, Virginia, is in its fusion of rich historical intrigue and coastal vitality. With a waterfront location teeming with scenic views and cultural delights, this city offers a perfect backdrop for both lifestyle and career. The backdrop of the Chesapeake Bay allows for a plethora of outdoor activities-from relaxing waterfront picnics to exciting water sports-making every weekend an adventure.

Families flock to local parks for community events, while art lovers revel in vibrant galleries. The culinary scene is equally enticing, ranging from food stalls serving fresh seafood dishes to upscale restaurants featuring innovative cuisine that showcases local flavors.

With its blend of modern conveniences and southern charm, Norfolk nurtures both personal and professional growth. The cost of living remains manageable, complemented by a robust healthcare industry and a lack of state income tax, creating an inviting environment for healthcare professionals eager to flourish.

Whether you're embarking on your career or are a seasoned expert looking for new paths, there's a wealth of opportunity waiting for you here.

Who We Seek

We are in search of a dedicated Speech Language Pathologist whose motivation stems not just from measurable outcomes but also from genuine compassion. If you envision a timid child developing into a confident communicator or recognize resilience in a stroke survivor's hesitant speech, you'll fit right in.

You might specialize in pediatrics and seek to expand your reach into adult services-or be a clinician with neuro expertise eager to bring early intervention strategies to life.

If your heart is set on making a difference and you possess the requisite skills, we would be excited to welcome you aboard.

Let Us Create Change Together

If you understand that speech transcends sound, and therapy is more than just treatment - if you believe in establishing trust as a foundational step in achieving goals and cherishing laughter as much as you do language - then this could be the perfect chapter in your professional journey.

Join us in a community that values connection, communication, and the bravery required to start anew. Apply today and lend your voice to our team as together we help others discover theirs.
