Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences - Harlan County

Job Summary

The Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences will develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of work based on locally identified needs that will improve the quality of living for families and individuals. The Agent will design and deliver educational programs focused on making healthy choices, nurturing families, embracing life with age, securing financial stability, promoting healthy homes and communities, accessing nutritious food, and empowering community leaders. The Agent will specialize in family and consumer sciences areas including food and nutrition, family resource management, human development and family relations, health, safety and wellness, leadership development, clothing and textiles, housing and the environment, and home-based and micro business. The Agent will develop and implement leadership programs such as Kentucky Extension Homemakers that cultivate personal and organizational leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of work that addresses locally identified needs.
• Plan and implement educational programs that focus on healthy choices, family nurturing, aging life, financial stability, healthy homes, nutritious food, and community empowerment.
• Provide expertise and serve as a resource in food and nutrition, family resource management, human development, health safety and wellness, leadership, clothing textiles, housing, environment, home based and micro business.
• Implement educational programs that strengthen families and individuals.
• Develop and implement leadership programs such as Kentucky Extension Homemakers.
