Position Summary

The Intake Counselor serves as the first point of contact for referral sources and potential patients to schedule assessments and / or admissions.

Responsibilities

• Thoroughly assess and complete the assessment tool for all clients.
• Communicate information with the on-call provider and nursing to determine an appropriate level of care.
• Document all findings and recommendations.
• Assist clients in being admitted or referred out to the service or resource to best address their needs.
• Manage referrals and ensure prompt response times.
• Provide information to individuals, agencies, facilities, and professional staff regarding potential admissions.
• Complete insurance verification and pre-certification as applicable.
• Participate in crisis and safety interventions as needed.
