Position Summary
Under supervision of the pharmacist-in-charge, the pharmacy tech will process prescriptions for outpatient dispensing and mail out shipping and repackage medications for distribution to our remote health center sites. The tech will greet both internal and external customers on the phone and face-to-face, providing excellent customer service. The tech will monitor inventory and will maintain a clean and organized pharmacy. The tech will travel occasionally for site reviews, training, and education. The tech will complete all training and education required to maintain their state license and PTCB national certification.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
General Duties
Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock levels, checking current orders and anticipating demand, ordering sufficient amounts to meet demand, verifying receipt of stock, removing outdated drugs, returning excess stock.Monitors the price of stock to ensure the pharmacy receives the best price available, returns stock due to higher prices when needed, maintains / updates drug cost in pharmacy software.Protects customers by adhering to infection-control policies and protocolsPrepares prescription orders for the pharmacist to dispense by reading prescriptions, typing labels, calculating quantities, and determining prescription and drug expiration dates.Counting prescription medications, filling prescriptions, and typing and attaching medication labelsProcesses clinic orders by typing packing lists, packing the medications and shipping to the remote health center siteProcesses mail out prescriptions, packing the medications and shipping to the indicated addressOperates the point of sale system, including cash register, credit card machine and prescription will call systemTrouble shoots pharmacy software, printer and robot and any other equipment when needed, including calls to vendor technical supportAssisting off-site health center staff with issues when neededMaintains files for purchase orders, packing lists, clinic drug orders, prescriptions, etc., in accordance with Board of Pharmacy and 340B requirementsPerform drug inventory auditsPurchasing of supplies and maintaining appropriate levels of suppliesCalculates drug prices by verifying acquisition cost and adding dispensing fees for appropriate payer groupCleans pharmacy shelves and workstations and organizes supplies, files and pharmaceutical inventory.Monitors refrigerator and room temperatures and understands vaccine management proceduresUtilizes state prescription monitoring programScreens all new prescriptions for 340B eligibilityMaintains updated patient profile, including allergies, demographics and payer groupPrepares reports by collecting and summarizing informationContributes to team effort by assisting coworkers when neededProvides training and support for medical assistants and dispensing techs both on-site and at remote locationsAssists pharmacist in performing dispensary site reviews and pharmaceutical inventory management training, which requires travel to remote sitesCompletes all education and training as required by the Board of Pharmacy, CMS, and 340BCustomer Service
Deliver quality customer service to patients, responding to inquiries, questions or requests, and referring them to the pharmacist for medical informationGreets customers in person and by phone; answers questions and receives requests, referring inquiries to the pharmacist as necessarySets example of exemplary customer service for both internal and external customersEnsures work environment is clean and organized during operational hoursProvides customers with general knowledge of services offered by NVHCQuality Management

Nevada State Pharmaceutical Technician License requiredPTCB preferredIf not PTCB certified on date of hire, will take the PTCB exam within 6 months and pass within 10 months.Customer service experience preferredBilingual preferredPreferred Qualifications
