American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) position, requiring a WV or compact RN license and at least 2 years of recent PICU experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in a 20-bed PICU with an average daily census of 15 patients in an acute care settingCare for pediatric patients with conditions including congenital heart disease, DKA, respiratory issues, neurosurgery, tracheostomies, and ventilatorsNurse-to-patient ratios : ICU 1 : 1-2, Stepdown 1 : 3Utilizes EPIC EMR system; EPIC training provided during orientation12-hour rotating shifts (day / night), with at least 2 full weekends per month requiredNo on-call requirementsFloating to L&D, NICU, and acute pediatric units required, taking normal ratios for each unitRespiratory therapy equipment used includes vents, CPAP, and BiPAPResponsibilities include titrating sedation and vasoactive infusions, caring for high-acuity pediatric populations, and managing specialized equipment and protocolsCollaborative team with 24 / 7 in-house pediatrician, resident, APP, and available charge nurse supportNurse aides provide assistance with equipment and patient support, particularly during daytime shiftsOrientation includes EPIC EMR training, competencies, and equipment review, plus 3 mentored shifts in the PICUTravelers may be scheduled for block shifts through self-scheduling balanced by the scheduling teamTraveler holiday coverage is integrated into the unit’s holiday rotationDress code requires royal blue scrubs with kid-friendly tops; t-shirts are not permittedNo local travelers allowed per radius rule; must live at least 50 miles from the facility\n \n Requirements\n
Active RN license in WV or compact state requiredMinimum 2 years of recent PICU nursing experience requiredCurrent certifications in BLS and PALS requiredExperience with titration of sedation and vasoactive drips with physician ordersMust provide an unexpired driver's license with an address at least 50 miles from the facilityFully vaccinated for COVID-19 or an approved medical or religious exemptionPrevious permanent staff and travelers must be gone at least 2 years before reapplying\n Benefits\n
