HVAC Test Technician

Clayton Services is searching for a HVAC Test Technician to join a thriving company in North Houston. The HVAC Test Technician will be responsible for testing HVAC equipment, documenting performance results, and ensuring all units meet quality and operational standards prior to shipment.

Job Type: Temp-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $30.00 - $35.00/hour plus OT

Schedule: Two Shifts Available: 1st Shift - Monday - Friday, 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM with weekend availability, or 2nd Shift - Monday - Friday, 4:00 PM - 2:30 AM with weekend availability

HVAC Test Technician Responsibilities:

• Test HVAC units prior to shipment using established procedures and specifications
• Review blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and operational documentation to perform accurate testing
• Set up, modify, and adapt test stands and equipment based on engineering guidance
• Operate specialized testing and laboratory equipment and perform routine maintenance as required
• Record test data, observations, and results on reports and data sheets
• Evaluate test outcomes and review findings with supervisors or engineering staff
• Communicate test procedures and results as needed, including occasional interaction with customers
• Apply continuous improvement principles to testing processes and workflows
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support production and quality goals

HVAC Test Technician Skills and Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical equipment
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and HVAC testing instruments
• Ability to use thermometers, pressure gauges, and related diagnostic equipment
• Ability to read and follow HVAC operation, service, and repair manuals
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Effective verbal and written communication skills

HVAC Test Technician Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or technical training, apprenticeship, or related education preferred
• Minimum of two years of related HVAC, testing, or mechanical experience preferred

HVAC Test Technician Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to stand or remain stationary for extended periods
• Ability to climb ladders safely
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
