Overview
The Gymnastics Coach is responsible for the delivery of quality gymnastics classes, regular communication with parents, and maintaining a safe environment while incorporating the YMCA's Mission and Core Values.

Location : Dan McKinney Family YMCA
Weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings
Must be available for at least one consistent day a weekMust work one weekend shift a monthResponsibilities
Teach assigned classes, following all lesson plans and rotation schedule, including the rules and procedures of class and schedulingPrepare creative and attractive lesson plans and session outlines prior to each classComplete progression chart for each participant in the class and advance participants from one level to next through outlined evaluation proceduresMaintain a basic knowledge of equipment use and safety checksKeep equipment in good condition by returning equipment to storage area at end of class and notifying supervisor when equipment needs to be repairedStay informed about the program specifics such as session dates, prices, classes, days, and timesWork with the program director to ensure all participants are registered and in the correct classMaintain accurate records of class attendanceDistribute certificates of achievement and program evaluations to class participantsMaintain quality and safety in all classes, including an instructor to participant ratio of 1 : 8Identify, train, and develop leaders within the group of participants (class assistants)Show enthusiasm, leadership, fairness, and fun through coaching styleCommunicate with parents regarding program evaluations and participant progressImmediately notify supervisor regarding participants or parent incidentsAttend training events and instructor clinics when made availableEncourage positive social skills and appropriate behavior; lead by exampleAbility to adequately observe participant activities, enforce safety regulations and apply appropriate policies and proceduresThe physical ability to safely spot, lead, demonstrate, and interact in group activitiesVisual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergencyOther duties as assignedQualifications
Minimum of 16 years of age or olderIf actively enrolled in high school, a valid school district Work Permit is required18 years of age or older, licensing, state law and our government funders require that staff within YMCA of San Diego County be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notificationsPrevious experience working with children between ages 3-14 years old preferredPrevious gymnastics coaching experience a plusCPR / AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child / Infant, obtained within 30 days of hire and must be from one of the following certifying organizations :American Red Cross

Pay Range
USD $19.69 - USD $23.63 / Hr.
