Job description

Airswift is seeking a Senior Principal Hydraulics Engineer to work on a 12-18 months contract-hire assignment with a professional consulting and advisory firm in Connecticut.

Candidates outside of Connecticut could be considered so long as they are in New England and have the necessary skills for the role.

Our contractor will work as a senior technical resource on both private and state and / or federally funded public infrastructure and transportation-based projects and oversee the design of drainage, hydrology, and hydraulic projects.

They'll be expected to engaged in multiple concurrent assignments and will oversee all aspects of technical work; will assist staff, including mentoring and training; assist with client management; will support project managers with coordinating schedules and deliverables and may assist branch offices, coordinating technical aspects of transportation design projects throughout the Northeast.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a senior technical resource to project managers.
  • Oversee all aspects of technical work, including the design of drainage, hydrology, and hydraulic projects.
  • Serve as a mentor to help develop and train staff.
  • Assist with client management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of HEC-RAS modeling software required.
  • Professional Engineer licensure required.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience working on a wide range of transportation-related projects, including municipal and state or federally funded projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in design of storm drainage systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in hydrologic and hydraulic studies and scour analyses.
  • Project or related task management experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of bridge projects and interaction between roads and rivers.
  • Working knowledge of application of FHWA bridge scour and stream stability guidelines.
  • Understanding of StormCAD, AutoCAD and MicroStation interfaces.
