Position Overview :
- Performs maintenance, installation and repair work on HVAC systems, equipment and components. Also, performs installations, repairs and fabrication of sheetmetal / metal components related to HVAC and other trades. This work is performed under general supervision and using the tools and techniques of HVAC technology.

Requirements
Authority / Decision-Making :
Makes decisions based on trade practices and supervisor direction as appropriate for the scope of this position.Recommends and participates in departmental HVAC operations development, improvement, and implementation as it relates to current / anticipated workload.Supervisory Responsibility :
Trains peer and lower level positions as directed by supervisor.Problem Solving :
Identifies, analyzes, diagnoses and resolves routine HVAC equipment problems and component conditions.Information Management :
Reads and interprets schematic and construction drawings, service manuals and other technical documents.Follows instructions provided by blueprints, drawings, written materials, work orders and oral instruction.Communicates (written and oral) with supervisor and departmental / JHM staff.Assimilates JHH / departmental mission, policies and procedures as well as specific job safety aspects.Working Conditions :
Works in shop and mechanical area environments with exposure to dust, heat, cold, noise and fumes.Work may be outdoors with exposure to extreme temperatures and other weather conditions.Gets into / works within confined spaces and in awkward positions.Works at heights of up to 30 feet above surface using ladders, lifts and equipment.Stand, walk or sit for extended periods; load / unload and transport / position tools, equipment and materials; push / pull loaded hand trucks up to 75 pounds.Possible exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials with health precautions observed.Protective safety devices required (glasses, gloves, hearing protection, PPE).Attention to detail, visual acuity and manual dexterity required.Qualifications
Education :
High School diploma or equivalent.Formal HVAC trade training at a vocational / technical school, college, or apprenticeship sponsor.Work Experience :
5 years related work experience. A state-approved program can count toward this requirement.Must have pneumatics experience.Knowledge :
HVAC theory, techniques, codes, procedures and materials.Safety rules and OSHA standards; sheetmetal installation, repairs and fabrication.Skills :
Apply HVAC, sheetmetal and safety knowledge; safely use tools and equipment.Problem solving and information management abilities; proficient written and verbal English communication.Identify and avoid hazards; perform work within reasonable timeframes.Machines, Tools, Equipment :
