Responsibilities

Provide direction and mentorship to Education staff relative to behavioral strategies. maintain knowledge of residents' whereabouts to ensure attendance at activities and counsel residents as necessary. Serve as a role model and reference for students dealing with academic, personal, social, and vocational problems. Provide crisis intervention as needed and assist the program as assigned by the principal or designee.

Location : Main campus, Red Hook school. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. For the role with varying education levels, the following ranges apply : HS Diploma / GED : $21.50 - $23.00 per hour; BA / BS : $22.50 - $24.07 per hour; MA / MS or higher : $23.50 - $25.14 per hour.

Experience

At least two years experience working with I / DD individuals in an educational or residential setting, one of which in a crisis intervention-type position.

Physical Requirements

Free of illegal substance dependency. Ability to perform significant walking, standing, sitting, bending, and lifting up to 70 lbs. Ability to perform initial restraint if needed. Possible exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
