About the Role : The CPCO will be a visionary leader responsible for shaping and stewarding the organization’s culture, talent strategy, and employee experience. This leader will serve as an organizational culture architect, cultivating a thriving, energized, equitable, inclusive, and positive workplace. The CPCO is a member of the Executive Team and reports to the CEO, supervising the HR leadership team and guiding talent strategy across departments."
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership : Guide, design and deliver people and culture strategies aligned with organizational mission, strategies, and objectives; act as a thought partner to the CEO and leadership on culture, talent strategy, and workforce planning; lead cross-functional initiatives to embed inclusion and belonging; design and implement people strategies that support growth, innovation, and resilience; advise leaders on workforce impacts and change management.
- Culture & Engagement : Develop and foster a culture aligned with values and priorities; champion a values-driven culture fostering trust, collaboration, and psychological safety; oversee employee engagement efforts (surveys, feedback loops, recognition programs) and communicate results to stakeholders; partner on internal communications for transparency and alignment; foster a workplace culture rooted in Jewish values that embraces diversity and integrates Jewish culture and traditions where appropriate.
- Talent Management & Organizational Development : Build a workforce structure aligned with leadership development and succession planning; support talent acquisition and performance management goals; oversee learning and development programs; align structure and staffing with strategic goals; plan and execute employee events focused on learning and engagement.
- Human Resources : Support HR operations, legal compliance, and employee relations; ensure fair and competitive compensation and benefits strategies; monitor workforce metrics and use data to inform decisions; promote efficient HR practices through appropriate technologies; maintain a respectful, legal, and ethical workplace; ensure policy alignment across the organization.
Qualifications
10+ years of progressive People and Culture leadership, ideally in an executive role with 150+ employeesBachelor’s degree required (HR, nonprofit management, or organizational development); Master’s degree preferred; or equivalent experienceSHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent certification preferredProven track record in organizational development, talent strategy and culture-building; experience with strategic planning, change management, compensation planning, and using data to inform decisionsHands-on leader with a strategic and creative mindset; experience in organizations with or without a collective bargaining agreement is a plusCommitment to inclusive teams and equitable talent systems; fostering belonging and mutual respect across culturesKnowledge of Jewish culture and traditions preferredWorking Conditions
Office environment; some remote work available subject to team scheduling.
Physical Requirements
Position requires seated or standing use of a computer throughout the day.
Status
Benefited, exempt supervisory position.
Hours
Full time preferred; will consider fractional candidates at a minimum of 80% FTE.
Schedule
Monday – Friday; occasional attendance at events and programming during evening and weekend hours.
