Job description

We are currently searching for an experienced CEI Field Engineer/Project Engineer to support our Southwest Region Construction Services Team. This position will support active Transportation Construction Projectslocated in Northeast Texas.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, Texas PE license.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Overseeing quality assurance inspection to verify work is performed in compliance with the plans and specifications
  • Monitoring safety for staff and sub-consultants
  • Overseeing onsite material testing for conformance with plans and specifications
  • Coordinating, communication, and preparing correspondence with Owner, Engineering, and Contractor personnel
  • Reviewing RFI’s and submittals for conformance with contract requirements
  • Resolving project issues and processing contract change orders
  • Supporting inspection and contractor staff through interpretation of plans and specifications
  • Leading and organizing project meetings
  • Processing daily project documentation and construction observations
  • Maintaining project documents in accordance with company and owner requirements
  • Reviewing monthly contractor pay estimates including quantity of work completed and associated value
  • Preparing weekly project status updates
  • Reviewing design plans and specifications for constructability
  • Performing other duties as required

What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Field Engineer: 5-10 years of related experience
  • Project Engineer: 10-15 years of related experience
  • TXDOT project experience is preferred
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • Valid driver’s license
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
