Ocean Rescue Lifeguard

The Ocean Rescue Lifeguard position is crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of beachgoers at the City's of Boca Raton Ocean front public access areas. This role involves performing ocean rescues and providing assistance in line with established guidelines and policies. Working under immediate supervision, the Ocean Rescue Lifeguard helps maintain a safe environment by self-directed response immediately to emergencies and life-threatening events. Through these responsibilities, this position supports the City's commitment to public safety and enhances the experience of residents and visitors enjoying the beach.

To be considered for this position, you must possess and attach copies of the following valid certifications and submit with your application :

• CPR Certification (American Red Cross CPR / AED for the Professional Rescuer or American Heart Association CPR BLS Course "C")
• First Aid Certification (American Red Cross First Aid or American Heart Heartsaver First Aid)
• Lifeguard Training Certification (American Red Cross Lifeguarding, YMCA Lifeguard Training, or Previous Ocean lifeguarding experience)

Pre-Employment Testing Information :

Qualified applicants will be contacted and invited via email and required to participate in pre-employment swim and rescue testing. Testing will be held at 8 : 00am on To Be Determined Date. You will be scheduled for this testing after it has been determined that the minimum qualifications and license requirements have been met. You will not be allowed to participate in the swim test if you have not been invited by Human Resources via email.

Eligibility Requirements : To be eligible to receive Paid Leave and to contribute to the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, a part-time employee must have worked at least 1,040 hours in the prior fiscal year

PAID LEAVE : Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will receive twelve (12) hours of Paid Leave on October 1st. This Paid Leave shall be used no later than September 30th of that fiscal year or it will be forfeited.

MISSION SQUARE 457 DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN : Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will be allowed to participate in the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. The City will not provide any matching funds.
