The North American Liability team offers a wide range of liability insurance solutions. These include Primary and Umbrella and Excess coverages. We serve a diverse client list, which includes, but is not limited to, manufacturers, hotels, retail, business services and technology companies.
The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the Regional National Accounts Lead Northeast & South, you will join the team as a Senior Underwriting Team Leader - National Accounts Liability you will handle a production underwriting territory while also managing a team of National Accounts Liability underwriters. You will be the technical referral point for underwriters, ensuring compliance with underwriting authority and pricing and rating guidelines. You will also develop and maintain strong relationships with producers and clients in partnership with Market Management.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include :
Underwriting new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets (local and / or regional), including negotiating price and terms and conditions with producers and proactively managing capacity.
Ensuring you and your team underwrite within the Liability governance framework (e.g., Underwriting Authorities, global MSU, Underwriting Guidelines, and Rules and Principles ).
Ensuring contract certainty is achieved on all accounts at time of inception, including utilization of global pricing tools and placing and binding of FAC Reinsurance prior to policy inception.
Positively representing AzC externally to the market. Proactively driving involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including MMC, ARC, Claims and Operations. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key producers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g., risk managers).
Ensuring accurate policy documentation issued to producers (where AzC responsibility to do so) or producer has issued documentation (where producer responsibility). Ensuring file is established (whether electronic or paper) and maintained for each risk and transaction handled. Proactively supporting completion of policy administration and credit control processes.
Proactively supporting acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and producer negotiations where necessary) and liaising with MMC on market management initiatives.
Participate / contribute to key projects.
What You'll Bring to the Role
7+ years of experience in Lead Umbrella and High Excess underwriting;
Familiarity with Bermuda Forms 004 preferred;
Ability to build and foster relationships internally across the organization and externally with our broker partners;
Outstanding technical skills with ability to analyze complex data / information from multiple sources;
Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills, especially with Excel;
Ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks, improve efficiency and contribute to data-driven decision making;
Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally;
Strong thought leadership skills with the ability to persuade and motivate others to act; and
Strong solution orientation, with an entrepreneurial spirit.

The annualized base pay range for this role is $170,000 $217,500. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
