The Role
We’re looking for a General Manager, Mortgage to lead Mesa’s mortgage business end-to-end. You’ll own the P&L, set the strategic direction, and oversee every aspect of the operation — from origination and fulfillment to partnerships, pricing, and more.
You’ll work cross-functionally with product, engineering, operations, compliance, and growth to build a best-in-class digital mortgage experience that’s faster, simpler, and more rewarding for homeowners.
This is a senior leadership role that sits at the intersection of fintech, credit, and homeownership.
How you’ll make an impact
- Own the full P&L for Mesa’s mortgage business, including volume, margins, loss rates, and growth targets
- Define and execute the strategic roadmap for purchase, refinance, and HELOC products
- Lead mortgage operations — underwriting, processing, closing, and secondary market delivery
- Oversee credit, risk, pricing, and compliance policies across federal and state regulations
- Partner with product and engineering to build technology that automates decisioning, improves member experience, and reduces cost per loan
- Develop and execute marketing and acquisition strategies to drive mortgage volume and retention
- Build and manage strategic partnerships with lenders, servicers, and capital markets partners
- Hire, mentor, and grow a world-class team across operations, credit, and growth
- Use data to drive performance management, forecasting, and investor reporting
- Continuously optimize operational efficiency, turnaround time, and customer satisfaction
What We’re Looking For
10+ years of experience in mortgage, lending, or consumer finance; 5+ years in senior leadershipDeep expertise across mortgage origination, underwriting, and complianceProven experience owning a P&L and scaling a high-volume or technology-driven mortgage businessAnalytical mindset — strong modeling, data analysis, and decision-making skillsExperience collaborating with product and engineering teams in a fintech or digital lending environmentExceptional communication and leadership skills; ability to influence at all levelsPassion for innovation in homeownership and improving consumer outcomesCompetitive compensation, including meaningful equityBest in class health, dental, and vision insurance401(k) planUnlimited vacation policyLocation : This is a hybrid role, requiring four days per week in one of our offices in San Francisco, CA; New York, NY; Austin, TX
