Title : Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - Operating Room

Location : Rochester, NY

Duration : 13 weeks

Shift : Day Shift, 4x10-Hour (11 : 00 - 21 : 30)

Job Responsibilities :

  • Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical environment, ensuring aseptic technique is upheld at all times.
  • Assist surgeons and the perioperative team during a variety of surgical procedures including general, gynecologic, orthopedic, neurosurgical, vascular, ENT, urologic, thoracic, and robotic cases.
  • Handle surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment efficiently and safely during operations.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and ensure the availability of required instruments and materials.
  • Participate in surgical counts, time-outs, and patient safety protocols according to universal standards.
  • Support operating room readiness by assembling, organizing, and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of procedures and supplies used.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and weekend / holiday coverage as scheduled.

    • Required Skills & Experience :

  • Minimum 3 years of operating room experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
  • Previous charge experience required.
  • Epic charting system experience (required).
  • Demonstrated competency in multiple surgical specialties, including :

    • Vascular : Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Carotid Endarterectomy, Femoral-Popliteal bypass graft, Endovascular Aneurysm Repair

  • General Surgery : Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection, Hernia repairs, Thyroidectomy
  • Gynecology : Laparoscopic procedures, Dilation & Curettage, Hysterectomy, Bilateral tubal ligation
  • Orthopedics : Total hip / knee replacements, Spinal fusions, Carpal tunnel release
  • Neurosurgery : Craniotomy, Laminectomy / discectomy, Cervical and lumbar fusions
  • ENT : Tonsillectomy / adenoidectomy, Tracheostomy, Radical neck dissection
  • Urology : Cystoscopy, Nephrectomy, Prostatectomy, Ureteroscopy
  • Robotics : Da Vinci Xi surgical system experience preferred
  • Travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment handling 40-60 cases daily.
  • Strong knowledge of sterile processing and surgical instrumentation management.
  • Experience in a Level II trauma or teaching hospital preferred.

    • Certifications & Licenses :

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - required (NBSTSA certification).
  • BLS certification - preferred.
