Senior Data Scientist, Personalization

Overview

Senior Data Scientist – Personalization at Sephora. Location : San Francisco, CA (Hybrid : in-office 3 days / week). Job type : Full Time, Regular. Role reports to the Director of Personalization Data Science. The role focuses on developing and implementing ML and AI-based models to enhance client personalization decisioning, automate business use cases, and optimize outcomes. You will collaborate with a team of data scientists and engineers to tackle novel problems and deliver innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

• AI Agentic Smart Orchestration (35%) : Design, develop, and deploy intelligent AI systems for content curation and meeting business needs; integrate complex goals (e.g., color consistency, freshness, placement frequency) into recommendation and placement awareness models; collaborate with business teams to translate strategic objectives into actionable data science solutions.
• AI-Forward Model Development (35%) : Lead research, development, and integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) into core systems; partner with broader Gen AI initiatives to ensure a consistent consumer experience across platforms; develop foundational code aligned with company-wide AI standards that can be easily adapted.
• Streamline Tech Stack (30%) : Build and optimize MLOps pipelines to deploy trained models to various platforms; create reusable infrastructure and tools to support the final stages of placement unlock; reduce technical debt and improve iteration speed in the model-to-placement pipeline.

Compensation And Benefits

Annual base salary range : $142,545.00 – $159,315.00. The actual offer depends on qualifications, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location. Eligible for bonuses.
