Job Summary

The Operating Room LPN provides compassionate and skilled nursing care to patients in various advanced perioperative procedures including CVOR, Neuro, Difficult Airway, Transplant, and Ophthalmology. You will support patients through their surgical experiences by preparing them for procedures and managing their care effectively. You will be an integral part of our surgical team, working collaboratively in the operating room while being independent in your nursing practice.

This role requires availability to take call, including weekends, and is eligible for a $15,000 sign-on bonus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Prisma Health's core values while delivering patient care.
  • Provide direct nursing care following established protocols and the scope of practice as defined by the Board of Nursing.
  • Document surgical procedures, counts, and patient preparation in a thorough and precise manner.
  • Operate and prepare complex surgical equipment and devices efficiently.
  • Administer medications and treatments in alignment with nursing protocols.
  • Assess patients' needs and develop tailored care plans to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Collaborate effectively with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation that meets regulatory standards.
  • Implement strict infection control measures to ensure patient safety.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations with appropriate measures.
  • Manage patients’ pain with suitable pain management techniques.
  • Engage with patients and families, offering them support and information throughout their care journey.
  • Participate in teaching patients and families about health conditions and care plans.
  • Coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
  • Delegate tasks appropriately based on team members' qualifications and patient requirements.
  • Foster a compassionate and supportive environment for patients and their families.
  • Assist the Surgical Technologist in a scrub role as required.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education : Associate degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Experience : Minimum of one (1) year as a registered nurse or equivalent experience accepted in lieu.
  • Licensure : Must hold a valid RN compact / multistate license or be licensed to practice in the relevant state.
