JOB DESCRIPTION :

Implement skilled nursing care to specific students based on the Individual Health Care Plan developed by the School Nurse. Maintain a safe environment for these students to function and learn. To assist with other duties as needed. Follow Special Education operating guidelines, district and campus policies and procedures.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Provide safe environment for students. Initiate emergency care when necessary to staff and students
• Collaborate with the School Nurse, special education staff regarding the health related IEP items
• Notify school nurse if student has an accident and becomes ill
• Provide skilled nursing care as directed by the Student Care Plan
• Administer and document medications according to district policy and procedure
• Accurate and timely documentation of student health care as specified by district policy
• SHARS documentation
• Assist in all areas as requested by Special Education staff and School Nurse
• Maintain neat and orderly work area
• Discuss all concerns and needs of student with School Nurse prior to any action or decision
• Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students and parents
• Other duties as assigned
• Maintain CPR / AED Certification (may be done with School Nurse)
• Maintain Licensure requirements
• Model behavior and written / verbal communication that is professional, ethical and responsible
• Follow attendance and punctuality rules
• Maintain confidentiality of information
