Pediatric Specialists of Virginia (PSV) division of Pediatric Neurology is seeking to hire an Advanced Practice Provider for our Outpatient Pediatric Neurology Clinic, working Full-Time, located in Fairfax, VA.

Under the supervision of the Attending Physician, the Nurse Practitioner will exercise independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of medical processes and procedures in accordance with the nurse practitioner licensure regulations of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and as delineated in the written Scope of Practice / Protocol for Nurse Practitioner. He / she will communicate effectively and work collaboratively with others. This person will also be responsible for demonstrating respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines, and using an integrated approach to achieve desired patient outcomes. He or she will utilize evidenced-based standards, guidelines, and protocols for care delivery and incorporate data and information to continuously improve care and practice. The Nurse Practitioner will ensure improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in life-long learning and provide direction and guidance to others regarding practice, serve as a resource, and mentor.

Job Description

Clinical / Medical Practice :

• Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of healthcare issues in the designated specialty. Prescribes legend drugs according to PSV guidelines.
• Effectively identifies, evaluates, and addresses disease prevention and health promotion issues of the population in practice while administering quality patient care.
• Educates patients and / or families about preventive care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and / or medications.
• Maintains legible, accurate, and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnosis, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with federal and state regulatory standards.

Participates in multidisciplinary patient care, discharge planning, and resource case management.
