Job Title : Network Security Engineer – Palo Alto Firewalls
Duration : 12 Months
Location : Remote (U.S.)
We are seeking an experienced Network Security Engineer to join our network security team. The team’s primary focus is on Palo Alto firewalls, IDS infrastructure, and programmatic updates of AWS security groups using Terraform, Ansible, and Python. This role will support a high-volume environment and supplement ongoing projects, requiring hands-on experience, strong network fundamentals, and technical problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain Palo Alto firewalls including policy management, deployment, troubleshooting, and design.
- Support IDS infrastructure with a focus on Linux-based deployments.
- Programmatically update AWS security groups using automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Python.
- Collaborate with the network security team on design, deployment, and operational improvements.
- Participate in on-call rotation (primary coverage one week on, secondary coverage as applicable).
- Contribute to ongoing projects and operational tasks to maintain secure, reliable, and efficient network operations.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience in network security engineering or similar roles.Strong experience with Palo Alto firewalls and associated security tools.Solid understanding of network fundamentals, including switching, routing, and routing protocols.Hands-on experience with policy management, deployment, and troubleshooting in enterprise environments.Familiarity with AWS security group management and cloud networking concepts.Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.Preferred Skills / Nice to Have
Exposure to automation tools : Ansible, Terraform, Python, GitHub.Experience with Linux command line, particularly in IDS deployments.Familiarity with Splunk for troubleshooting and monitoring.Knowledge of security best practices and enterprise network security operations.“Solidly into the 10 series” → The team is currently using Palo Alto firewall software / hardware running version 10.x.“Potentially down the road, looking at moving to 11x” → They are considering upgrading to version 11.x in the future.“Primary focus would be a solid exposure to 10X” → For candidates, the main requirement is experience with version 10.x of Palo Alto firewalls. Experience with version 11.x is optional or a plus, but not required
