Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Novelis Uhrichsville, Ohio team is seeking a Lead Process Engineer for Remelt, Rolling and Finishing. The ideal candidate will lead a team of Process Engineers and Specialists, providing advanced technical expertise in metallurgical practices, product quality controls, development of new processes and products, and resolution of concerns to ensure safe and accurate production of rolled sheet aluminum.

Responsibilities

• Drive safe behaviors in compliance with EHS policies in the manufacturing team and hold team members accountable.
• Ensure the capability, consistency, and traceability of all Remelt, Rolling and Finishing products and processes
• Coordinate activities related to the plant quality and quality systems in alignment with the Unit Manager to ensure procedures and processes are developed and implemented.
• Represent the Department's technical capabilities and potential opportunities relative to product manufacturing in the material development process with the Value Streams.
• Provide support to NNA Product Development groups through the Advanced Quality Product Planning (APQP) process, translating customer specifications into production processes, handling requests for trial materials, following metal through the plant production processes and reporting on trial results.
• Support area Process Groups to develop, test and modify processes to improve recoveries and / or quality.
• Participate in Rapid Improvement Events, Value Stream Analyses, and other similar activities.
• Administer Plant and Corporate practices and policies uniformly to ensure equal treatment of all employees and conformity with site principles and guidance.
• Support the plant to become a World Class Manufacturing rated facility
• Implement the quality management system

Location Profile

Opened in 1985 the Uhrichsville facility produces flat rolled aluminum coil. The Recycling mill prepares scrap aluminum that is used in the rolling mill to create rolled aluminum coils to a desired gauge. Anneals temper the aluminum then it is leveled and sized to customer specification. Employing more than 400 people the facility produces aluminum sheet for building and construction automotive distribution transportation and consumer durable applications.
