POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for working with Information Technology (IT) and external departments to support the Enterprise’s data storage and reporting requirements and ensures maximum uptime and performance of all database instances, patching and configuration to meet security requirements, and Enterprise’s reporting requests. The position will ensure documentation of Data Base Administration (DBA) processes, supporting software installations and decommissions, and collaborating with vendors to support new deployments and also ensures IT projects and change activities are aligned with IT strategy by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates, as well as demonstrating the GILA WAY.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Promotes and provides excellent guest service experience to both internal and external guests.
- Supports internal and external audit teams by providing reports on current database infrastructure as well as database infrastructure changes.
- Provides input for design, planning and maintenance of the database infrastructure.
- Deploys simple and complex database environments to support enterprise’s application and data warehousing requirements.
- Performs patch management and other system upgrades.
- Performs Disaster Recovery testing and implementations.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assigned tasks and execute parallel tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Monitors backup activity and correct issues as they are identified. Perform data restores as required.
- Monitors performance and availability of all database systems and conducts capacity planning for the enterprise.
- Provides security recommendations and implements security policies across all database environments.
- Be a subject matter expert in database technologies and trends.
- Documents data flows and build diagrams to reflect the live environment.
- Creates and communicate presentations showing architecture and roadmaps.
- Works with vendors and the Project Team to implement new applications and business initiatives.
- Ensures databases operate within established policy, and procedures, including GICS, MICS, and department policies and procedures.
- Supports the Enterprise’s database mission in a casino environment including regular after hour and weekend support.
- Maintains a dependable work attendance record with extremely infrequent absences and / or lateness.
- Designs, develops, and configures SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services) projects to support data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes across multiple systems and environments.
- Creates, maintains, and deploys SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) reports to support business intelligence needs, ensuring data accuracy, performance optimization, and user accessibility.
- Manages Oracle 19c and 12g databases in a production environment, including performing and validating RMAN (Recovery Manager) backups and restores, monitoring backup health, and ensuring data recovery compliance
- Maintains a well-structured code repository for database scripts, SSIS packages, and SSRS reports using version control systems (e.g., Git), ensuring change tracking, peer review, and deployment readiness.
- Deploys and configures SQL Server databases (2012–2022) in production environments, including setting up and managing Always On availability groups for high availability and disaster recovery, while following best practices for performance, security, and version compatibility.
- Creates database security reports to identify sensitive data and ensure compliance with Arizona Department of Gaming (ADOG) requirements, supporting internal audits and regulatory inspections through SQL Server native tools and custom reporting solutions.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate's Degree in Computer Science or related major preferred.Must have expert knowledge of Microsoft Server Reporting Services (SQL) Server.Must have expertise in disaster recovery and always-On Availability Groups, and log shipping.Knowledge of partitioning strategies and experience with working large datasets.Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) preferred.Experience with PowerShell and Oracle is preferred.Professional certifications in Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), SQL, 201X Database Administration, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Data Management and Analytics preferred.Ability to perform the GILA WAY which is as follows : Greet our guests, Interact positively with our guests, Listen actively to our guests & Appreciate our guestsMust possess excellent guest service skills, strong telephone etiquette, a self-starter with the ability to follow-up and complete tasks in a timely manner with minimum supervision.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as well as to gain the cooperation of guests and fellow team members.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.This position must have, or an ability to acquire within one year, an in-depth knowledge and thorough understanding of Enterprise Policies and Procedures, governmental regulations, and technical rules relevant to their responsibilities.
