Unit Overview :

This NICU cares for infants with a variety of high-acuity neonatal conditions. Travelers should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing complex clinical situations independently.

Common Diagnoses / Procedures :

Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS)

Hypoglycemia

Prematurity

Rule-out Sepsis

Transient Tachypnea of the Newborn (TTN)

Special Procedures Performed on Unit :

Assisting with circumcisions

PICC line removal

Assisting with lumbar punctures

Assisting with neonatal eye exams

Common Medications :

Iron supplementation

Vitamin infusions

Caffeine

Antibiotics

Common Equipment :

Ventilators

Giraffe beds

Feeding pumps

IV pumps

Float Expectations :

Travelers may be required to float based on census to :

Mother / Child Health (MCH)

Postpartum

Newborn Nursery

House-wide sitter assignments

Shift Details :

Hours : 19 : 00–07 : 30

Weekends : Required

Required Certifications :

BLS

NRP

PALS (if applicable)

BCLS

Must have previous traveler experience.

Required / Preferred Skills

Line Management :

Required : IV insertion

Required : PICC / Central line management

Required : Arterial line (A-line) management

Airway / Respiratory Skills :

Required : CPAP / BiPAP management

Required : Ventilator management
