Job description

Role Summary

The Sr. Technical Program Manager – Charger Systems Hardware (TPM) reports to the Manager, Technical Programs and is responsible for program managing the development of Electrify America's charging network DCFC hardware (e.g. NPI, charging dispenser components and associated firmware). In this role the Sr. Technical Program Manager will be responsible for program managing multiple teams through NPI and hardware component development processes and rollout strategies. The candidate will take on the role of TPM for ELAM and ELCA's charger vendors, setting and managing priorities and communicating them internally and externally. The candidate will be responsible for understanding feature-based development timelines and driving those timelines against the development roadmap. They will program manage multiple development teams, plan out development cycles and releases and track vendor performance. Will work closely with Product, Engineering, Quality, and test teams to streamline implementation of new hardware introduction and improvements in order to improve customer experience. The candidate is also responsible for leading the vendor project and test leads in assessing impacts and approach on delivery timelines. Has strategic input into system architecture and communicates processes, timelines, and features to EA's C-suite. Needs to support strategy and business development teams by turning ideas into practical solutions. Improve EA's Jira, Confluence and approval process environments as well as development processes and procedures.

Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for coaching resources on critical thinking, development planning best practices, business requirements management and solution development.

Role Responsibilities

  • Program manage and oversee the development, testing and roll-out of ELAM and ELCA's charging network charger hardware for DCFC products. 60%
  • Manage feature and idea collection processes and convert into practical milestones
  • Manage development planning through entire life cycle
  • Manage all suppliers during planning, development and test phases
  • Assess any and all feedback throughout the process and manage direction of the work
  • Work closely with teams to validate developed product against planned roadmap
  • Sign off on releases and lead deployment efforts
  • Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Quality and vendor teams. 30%
  • Help identify and evaluate field issues and manage development team fixes into sprint plans
  • Support forward-looking analysis of system logs to identify issues before manifestation
  • Provide process and technical support for operations team / network ops center
  • Support and lead test team and vendors to correctly identify and categorize field issues
  • Manage allocated budget and compliance with EA's policies and procedures regarding budget allocation. 5%
  • 8+ years leading / managing technical development planning and delivery

Education (Required)

  • Master\'s degree, MBA, or equivalent
  • Skills

  • Software / hardware technical program management or Electrical Engineering background or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple initiatives at one time across multiple work streams
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking – using logic and reason, creative and strategic
  • Ability to mentor and motivate application development personnel, application architects, technical leads, and development contractors effectively
  • Exceptional Communication skills – interpersonal, presentation and written
  • Ability to identify, analyze and remediate conflicts in consultation with other business and Technology managers, presenting recommendations for resolution to both Technology and Business Leadership

  • Extensive technology development team management / leadership experience
  • Long track record of technical project management experience
  • Experience applying AGILE / Scrum development principles or other iterative approaches
  • Basic knowledge of programming and expertise in understanding software and hardware development lead times
  • Staff and Multi-Vendor Management expertise
  • Extensive experience in managing teams on SDLC best practices
  • Vendor and Stakeholder negotiation experience
  • Excellent written & oral communications skills
  • Demonstrated record of precision & integrity in past work assignments
  • Demonstrated high level of initiative
  • Experience in C-Suite presentation
  • Expert in utilizing SDLC work management tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Zephyr)
  • PMP Certification
  • Work Flexibility

  • Remote role with occasional travel to Reston, VA with time split between office, charging / vehicle test lab and vendor site
  • Must be able to work core EST business hours

In California, the salary range is $113,000 – 152,600; in Colorado, $113,000 – 152,600; in Washington, $113,000 – 152,600; in New York City, $135,600 – 183,100; in Westchester County, $135,600 – 183,100; in Rhode Island, $113,000 – 152,600.
