Investor Relations Associate - Private Equity Firm

JOB SUMMARY : The Investor Relations Associate will work as part of a small team focused on the capital formation activities of the multi-strategy FIRM. This group interacts with existing and prospective limited partners in the FIRM's various Funds (including public and private pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, financial institutions, and high-net-worth families) in an effort to capitalize the FIRM's investment vehicles.

Core Responsibilities

Capital Formation

  • Develop written marketing materials including Private Placement Memos and presentations
  • Develop detailed due diligence materials, including qualitative descriptions and financial schedules outlining the FIRM's performance and strategy
  • Respond to investors’ specific diligence questions
  • Participate in marketing meetings

Investor’s Conferences / Internal Strategy sessions

  • Assist with the coordination of all elements of the FIRM's Investor’s Conference, including developing the agenda and determining event logistics
  • Work with senior professionals to draft presentations which review portfolio investments, industry developments, the economy and other topics
  • Co-investments

  • Coordinate the equity syndication process for portfolio company investments where necessary, including initial solicitation, arranging due diligence calls / sessions, closing any open issues as practicable, expediting closing processes.
  • Work with investing team to develop the marketing presentation, including investment thesis and company overview
  • Ongoing LP maintenance

  • Field LP queries on portfolio company status, capital accounts, deal referrals, reference checks, performance data, etc. Coordinate as needed with deal professionals.
  • Develop semi-annual Advisory Committee presentations to review fund status with senior deal professionals
  • Keep abreast of developing LP programs that may be relevant to upcoming fundraising campaigns and assisting with diligent maintenance of master LP database and relevant Marketing Status Reports (MSRs)
  • Research, Materials Drafting, and New Business Development

  • Draft materials on new asset classes the FIRM may want to enter, including market dynamics, competitive analysis, fund economics, etc.
  • Source relevant data, anecdotes, and illustrations for various investment topics, themes, case studies, and industries
  • Research and draft sections of quarterly and annual letters and presentations to investors
  • Firm Updates

  • Assisting in updates for the Sixth Street team, Partners Meetings, or Conferences regarding the investment environment or specific campaigns or issues
  • Legal and Compliance

  • Work closely with deal professionals, legal, and the compliance team to ensure that marketing materials and sales literature are in accordance with firm's policies and procedures, including applicable SEC and FINRA rules
  • Education and Experience

  • At least 2 years of proven experience working in investment banking, and / or an investor relations or client management position, with strong understanding of financial services investment products
  • Structured problem solver who is able to synthesize sophisticated information from a variety of sources into implementable recommendations and solutions
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams
  • Strong prioritization and project management skills
  • Comfort working in a high growth, iterative environment

  • Solid quantitative skills including financial analysis. Advanced Excel skills a positive
  • Strong writing, editing and researching skills to draft internal and external materials
  • Strong work ethic, professional integrity and capable of excelling in a fast-paced environment
