Partner with FTS Inc! We're working with an organizations looking to add a Fundraising Consultant to their team in Washington, DC. This is a 6+ month contract role to support their funding and donations efforts, and is primarily remote with light travel to donor sites in the D.C area.
A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a Fundraising Consultant / Philanthropic Partnerships Contractor to strengthen and expand foundation relationships while providing guidance to the Senior Manager of Individual Giving. This role will focus on securing major foundation support, managing a robust funding pipeline, and driving overall fundraising growth in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Overview of role :
- Strengthen and expand relationships with foundation partners to drive revenue growth.
- Lead development of high-quality grant proposals, budgets, and impact reports.
- Manage a 12-month pipeline to meet or exceed foundation fundraising goals.
- Identify, cultivate, and secure new foundation funding opportunities.
- Collaborate across teams to align fundraising strategies with program priorities.
- Support individual giving initiatives, including major gifts and donor engagement.
- Partner with marketing and communications to ensure consistent donor messaging.
- Provide strategic guidance to leadership on philanthropic trends and opportunities.
Primary Focus
Manage and deepen relationships with existing foundation partners through strong stewardship, reporting, and renewal strategies.Identify and cultivate new foundation prospects aligned with organizational priorities.Lead the development of persuasive proposals, budgets, and impact reports in collaboration with internal teams.Maintain an active 12-month grant pipeline to achieve revenue goals.Champion a culture of philanthropy that aligns program priorities with fundraising opportunities and promotes equitable practices.Advisory Role
Advise and support the Senior Manager of Individual Giving to help meet annual goals across major gifts, digital campaigns, and donor engagement.Partner with marketing and communications teams to create consistent messaging and donor experiences.Strategy & Leadership
Provide insights on philanthropic trends and opportunities to senior leadership.Represent the organization externally in meetings with funders and partners.Ensure accurate CRM data and use analytics to inform strategy and decision-making.Qualifications
Experience : 15+ years in nonprofit fundraising, with proven success in securing major foundation grants ($100K+).Leadership : At least 3 years managing staff or consultants.Skills : Exceptional writing and budgeting skills; ability to assess funding trends and manage complex pipelines.Knowledge : Understanding of equity-focused philanthropy; familiarity with planned giving and public policy issues a plus.Traits : Strategic, entrepreneurial, and deadline-driven.
